Graham at Leaving Munster orbits the “if I the Human Being can value non-damnation over damnation, then wouldn’t I be more moral than God” issue that gets a lot of people further down the road to Universalism. Why? Because it puts the theologian in the postion of having to defend damnation as a preferable moral outcome in the divine economy. Such a God might be feared (in the usual, non-awe sense of the word) but never loved. Little wonder some find a half-way refuge in the cold bed of Anihilationism.
Graham, if you’re reading this know that I’ve seen versions of what your wrote going back at least a century and a half. Not that I’m accusing you of borrowing, but rather that these issues are evergreen and — I believe — God-honoring.
