Anna at Call and Response writes about Christian communism, or at least communalism, and refers to the Diggers or Levellers.
Obligatory Universalist note: Diggers founder Gerrard Winstanley has been “accused” of being a Universalist. He shows up on old lists but I don’t have proof that he did hold universalist beliefs. Like Schweitzer, a number of people want to claim him.
I’ve been reading a bit about Mennonites and Hutterites online (to match Estep’s History of the Anabaptists) the latter of which are communalists. Hutterite “cousins” (but not in fellowship with the Hutterites any more) are the Bruderhof, and they have an extensive Internet publishing mission worth emulating.
