Rep. Harold Ford (D-TN) lost his bid for the Senate, but there was something dignified and stirring in his concession speech. We’ll see more of him.
But I wanted to note the biblical passage he quoted and used as a slogan for the campaign:
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers
That’s Ephesians 6:12a, King James Version. The rest of the verse follows
against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
That will keep you strong in these hard times.
Hello from Tennessee. Yes, but Ford is has been outspokenly opposed to gay marriage throughout the campaign. Ugh.
I’m under no illusion that the electorate is any more liberal than before or that gays will be accepted widely in most places. For all its troubles, I’ll stay in DC, which should be easier with a Democratic house and perhaps (I hope) senate.
