It’s a musical!

If PeaceBang can talk about attending a musical, so can I.

Hubby and I went to Urinetown at Signature Theater last night. How do I describe it? a Brechtian comedy? The Crucible for a self-aware urban hipster generation? Perhaps a grim morality melodrama with fabo singing? That’ll do.

The Big Bad is a corporation that has a monopoly on toilets, the Urine Good Company. It was represented on stage by a banner reading UGC.

Naturally — and here’s the blog tie-in — I was thinking Universalist General Convention through the whole show. That UGC is gone, but the play runs in Arlington, Virginia through October. See it if you’re in — urine? — town.
