For all the congregational polity agita over the last — what? — million years, what rationale, other than inertia, is there for the continuing Unitarian Universalist Association ownership of the Beacon Press? Rank heresy, I know, but I’m amazed that this isn’t ever openly discussed.
Does it turn a profit?
@Bill – my understanding is that right now it does.
I wonder, though, if that adequately considers the cost of office space, both required at the current buildings or would be needed if the UUA sold and moved.
I wonder if they have a biz model for the new world of ebooks and ereaders.
