When you need a patriotic Satanist

I don’t know what made me groan more tonight

  • Catwoman on AMC
  • The “victory” that allows a reference to God — previously banned — on certificates associated with flags flown over the Capitol.

Oh, with a resolution to match. Yippee. Not that we don’t have bigger things to do

I think our national political life does very well without gratuitous and symbolic references to religion; indeed, the fewer the better. This isn’t a First Amendment virtue, but an esteem I have for both Church and State that one shouldn’t be trivialized or manipulated for the benefit of the other.

And now the door’s opened, at the very least I expect is equity in access. Not a few neo-Pagan bloggers have pointed out the inequity in getting their emblems permitted for veteran headstones, so they’re busy.

If equality before the law is meaningful, it applies to those to those most villified, say, Satanists. Surely someone needs a flag and a commemoration.
